I have really waited a long time for this audio to be out. One more album from the combination Mani Ratnam and A.R.Rahman, both are GURUs in their corresponding fields.
Barso Re : Shreya Ghoshal and Uday Mazumdar
This is song is a very good starter for the whole album. The song has GURUs impression, with slow addition of instruments. You can hear cool folk beat underlying somewhere through out the song. Uday Mazumdar, hearing this name for the first time. Could be one more GURUs discovery. Not much for this guy to show his mettle in this song, however given very good bit in the interload. Shreya Ghoshal sounds OK to me with this song. I liked the song in the first cut itself.
Tere Bina : GURU(A. R. Rahman), Chinmayee
Perfect! Cant say much about this song. I know GURU can do wonders with hindustaani but this song has outstanding classical touch with undercurrent melody. Hats Off to GURU for handling the song so elegantly. The RAGA that GURU rendered in the song reminded the bit from BOMBAY where GURU given similar raga. GURU is at his best in this song. Chinmayee did a nice job. This song gonna grab max awards next year for sure.
Ek Lo Ek Muft :Bappi Lahiri, Chitra
I really wonder how GURU got this idea to bring in Bappi Da to this song. Really his voice sits perfectly to into this song. After hearing the song and observing the lyrics, I guess GURU (Jr Bachhan) sings the song in intoxicated state. Bappi Da sang the song as if he really drunk while singing the song. Good situational song.
Mayya :Chinmayee, Keerthi, Maryem Toller
This is the Song I have been waiting to hear for such a long time from GURU. Great Foot Tapping song. Percussion rocks. “Mayya Mayya.. Gulaabi tare chunle saare chun…Mayya Mayya…” Only possible to GURU. Thought complete paisa vasool just for that bit. Arabic touch gives nice effect to the song.
Aye Hairathe : Hariharan, Alka Yagnik
Similar tune as in Tere Bina in the starting, but its very limited to certain part of the song. Hari’s Ghajal singing experience is used to its fullest extent. Alka and Hari Haran equals great duet. You can hear certain tempo changes in this song which are forced as per situations I guess. This song is a great stress buster.
Jaage Hain : A. R. Rahman, Chitra
Another Master Piece to end the album. I guess this can be treated as Theme Of GURU. Very Inspiring. Reminded BOMBAY theme again. It has to be GURU at his best to give this composition. What say?
Yes I missed Baazi Laga :Bhargavee, Madhushree, Swetha, Udit Narayan wantedly as its just a situational song and I dint find anything special about it.
